I enjoyed this extra story about the couple first introduced in His Risk to Take, from Tessa Bailey's Line of Duty series (Riskier Business probably stands alone okay but I recommend reading His Risk to Take for the beginning of Troy and Ruby's story, heck, read the whole 4 and 5 star Line of Duty series)

Several months after the events that brought them together, Troy and Ruby are inseparable, and Ruby has given away pool hustling and started her custom hand made pool cue business. Then she hears from her father, who taught her how to hustle and used her from an early age to fleece unsuspecting punters. He wants her to have one more match.

I like Tessa Bailey's heroes and heroines, sexy, alpha law enforcement guys, especially when they're so patently crazy about their woman. Troy is delicious. Wounded by the death of a colleague in Chicago, he has trouble sending people he cares about into danger, and as a consequence is very protective of Ruby. He likes control too, and I like that sassy, strong Ruby gets him, and is willing to give him that. And the way this plays out in the bedroom leads to some white hot sex scenes. Damn! I like Ruby too, and I liked how Riskier Business expanded her story a lot, including a couple of plot twists.

Special mention goes to Ruby's friend Bowen Driscol, i loved the development in Ruby and Bowen's relationship, and I can't wait to read Bowen's story, Risking it All, due out very soon.

Four stars because Riskier Business is a good story and a good sequel to His Risk to Take, particularly because of how it unfolds more of Ruby's background. Hot and delicious sex scenes, Tessa Bailey's flirty dialogue and a strong relationship between the main couple at its centre. If you liked the Line of Duty series, this is a worthy addition, and a chance to check in again at one of the series intriguing couples.

This Troy and Ruby novella is HOT HOT HOT! I have a special affinity for Troy and Ruby, as they were my first Tess Bailey experience. My friend Kim over at Kimberly Faye Reads sent me a message that read something like this

"You have to buy this book!!! This guy does this thing with a pool stick...."

I was sold. She popped my Tessa Bailey cherry with Troy and Ruby in His Risk To Take and I never looked back. Tessa does not disappoint with RISKIER BUSINESS. This novella might be short, but it packs a punch and brings the heat! Troy and Ruby have settled in to their life together, but Ruby's tool of a father shows up and throws everything back out of control. He wants her to hustle just one more game, and in exchange he'll give her long sought af information about her mother.

This situation puts Troy's ultra alpha behavior against Ruby's stubborn independent attitude. Caught in a situation that is heavy with danger, Troy and Ruby must find a way to put their differences aside and function as a couple. Riskier Business has both Troy and Ruby trying to find away to keep each other while still keep their independence. And let's not forget, it also has all of the dirty, dirty sex. It. Is. Good. You need to read His Risk To Take before Riskier Business, but I don't know why you wouldn't want to read that one. Troy and Ruby are one smokin' hot book couple, and I'm over the moon we got to see more of them. Suspense and action, mystery and sex, this book has it all! Here's where you can by your copy
4.5 RATING- While Riskier Business revisits characters from the Line of Duty series, the story actually is a novella length book kicking off the start of Tessa Bailey's new series, Cross the Line. Riskier Business catches up with Troy and Ruby as they settle into their relationship, just a NYPD officer in love with a retired pool hustler... Unfortunately, interrupting their happy life is Ruby's father, back to cause more problems, and he definitely does! With a proposition that's hard for Ruby to say no to, will she turn her father down or put her new life and the people she loves in danger?

Risker Business was pure trademark Tessa Bailey HOT HOT HOT with a big ole scoop of dirty talk and a side dish of role-play! There's also a touch of intrigue and an interesting revelation that comes out as well. Troy Bennett is a complete BEAST and I love him and his dominating ways! He is so sexy, definitely book boyfriend material. I seriously adore him! The chemistry between Troy and Ruby is still as hot as ever and worked for me from start to finish. Ruby did piss me off a bit. I understand why she made the decision she did but wish she would have taken the advice of those around her and not dealt with her dad.

Overall, this was a great read. Tessa Bailey delivers big with a short and sexy story. Really looking forward to the next book in this series, Risking it All, which will be Bowen's story. I was super excited to see that it's a full length story too!
